Welcome to The Lord Nelson Cricket Club
The Lord Nelson Cricket Club is based in Burnham Thorpe, where it plays its matches no more than a well-hit six away from The Lord Nelson pub, on the village playing field.
The Club was formed in December 2006 and is affiliated with the England Cricket Board.
It has already attracted many members, including a very enthusiastic youth element; Friday evening practice sessions (5-7pm) are open to all, but largely aimed at junior players who are keen to improve their game.
Matches take place on Sundays, either in the form of competitive games against touring sides or neighbouring villages, or as less formal situations involving two sides both provided by the Club, which gives the youngsters a chance to experience genuine match situations at an appropriate level of play.
Fund raising is on-going, but we do have a good supply of senior and youth equipment; Burnham Thorpe matchday teas, also available for non-cricketers (£2.00 per person), have long been legendary and may yet prove to be one more valuble method of raising funds for the Club.
